85. Is the empty nest experience different for parents of multiples?

The empty nest phase can be difficult for any parent but is especially difficult for parents of higher-order multiples since the majority of multiple births are the only children in the household. A multiple birth family goes from bursting at the seams to completely silent. Just the anticipation of this transition can be very distressing.
