30. Can parents of multiples participate in skin-to-skin (kangaroo) care? Mothers
and fathers of multiples should be encouraged to participate in skin-to-skin (kangaroo)
care as soon as medically possible for the infants
in the NICU. Some parents eventually give skin-to-skin care with more than one
infant at a time. Skin-to-skin care helps a mother’s breast milk come
in, and both parents are strongly encourage to participate since this is often quite helpful in building a strong bond with
each of the babies before being discharged from the hospital.
The MOST Infant Multiples Booklet explains the benefits of skin-to-skin (kangaroo) care and considerations to discuss with your health care team.
