Reason
for delivery in quintuplets:
42.1% delivered due to labor progressing
19.1% delivered due to maternal complications
17.2% delivered due to fetal complication
13.4 were scheduled deliveries (c-section/induction)
7.6% delivered due to ruptured membranes (PROM)
The remaining 0.6% delivered for the following reasons: preeclampsia, poor fetal growth, fetal distress, uterine infection, fetal demise, and other.
The
average gestation for a scheduled delivery was 32.7 wks.

54% of quintuplet mothers indicated having difficulty breastfeeding or pumping.

The state with the largest population of quintuplets in this survey is New York representing 15.38% of all quintuplet surveys followed by Illinios at 13.46%, Florida at 11.54%, and Pennsylvania at 7.69%.
