Anyone have any tried and true snacks for Superbowl Sunday???
I like to do lots of munchies/appetizers instead of an actual meal.

Tortilla rollups, pizza dip and cheese/crackers go over well in our house. Think if the Pack goes to the Superbowl this year the hubby will leave me behind with the kids. How does that rate since I was born and raised here and he moved here when he was 14???
GO PACK!

I am not a football fan but watching that game in the snow was certainly something!

well, Bridget, the Pats aren't in the Superbowl yet! (We'll watch no matter what teams are playing, but of course it would be better if we were in it)
Jennifer, can you share the recipe for the pizza dip? sounds interesting! It would be interesting if it ends up being the Packers vs. the Patriots. My son Jimmy has a Favre football shirt, and Brendan has a Pats one. At least I know what they'd be wearing that day!
(and for the record, yes, I'm wearing my Pats sweatshirt today)

The pizza dip is the easiest thing to make.
Spread 8 oz of softened cream cheese (I use light) in the bottom of a pie plate. Top with a 14 oz jar of pizza sauce, then 1/3 cup chopped onion, then 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, then 2 oz sliced pepperoni, chopped. You can also top with sliced olives.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Serve with chips or crackers.

Jennifer,
sounds great! I'm not an olive fan. Have you ever made it other ways? I'm thinking pepperoni and green pepper in place of the onions and olives?
just curious.
Thanks for sharing.

We like to serve Italian Beef from the crockpot on crusty french rolls and pepperocinis, nacho cheese dip and other finger foods. And lots of beer.

I have not tried any other toppings but I do not put the olives on and sometimes leave the onions off. I would think anything you want to add would work.

The Italian Beef sounds good. How do you make that?
Here is another one that some of you might already be familiar with...
Spread a pack of cream cheese on the bottom of bowl (ie: corning), pour a jar of salsa over it, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese. Bake in oven approx 5-10 minutes...until the cheese melts. Makes for a great dip for those heavier nachos (golds or scoops). Usually best immediately after baking because otherwise the cheddar cheese gets clumpy. Come to think of it, you could probably leave it warming in a crockpot, which would allow it to be served for longer? Just a thought...

Italian beef--we usually put a stalk or two of celery and chopped up onion with a roast in the crock pot. You should be able to find a recipe in the crockpot recipe book, but there are packets of seasonings at the grocery store that will tell you what to do too. It really is easy and after cooking in the crock pot for enough hours, the meat just falls apart and makes its own au jus.

Any new ideas for this year? I'm looking for something savory, soft (not crunchy or chewy), tree-nut free, and vegetarian to bring to our hosts who have some dietary concerns. I'll probably do deviled eggs if I don't get another idea, but I was hoping for something more interesting.
