1. In 1914, Congress passed legislation designating the 2nd Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
2. An estimated 4 million women have babies each year, and over 2000 of those give birth to triplets, quadruplets or more.
3. The average age of women when they give birth for the first time is 25, but the average for mothers giving birth to triplets or more is 31.
4. An estimated 40% of births are the mother’s first (63% for triplets or more). Another 32% are the second-born (28% for triplets or more); 28%, third or more (9% for triplets or more).
5. More than 152 million Mother’s Day cards are given each year in the US, making Mother’s Day the 3rd largest card-sending occasion.
6. The average number of children women have today is two; a woman with higher-order multiples has almost twice as many.
7. Only about 10% of women today end their childbearing years with 4 or more children, but almost 50% of mothers with higher-order multiples have 4 or more children.

Dorothy & FamilyAn estimated 5 million Americans will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 1 million could die over the next 25 years.

One of MOST's members, Dorothy Dennelly, will be walking in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Event. It’s a 60-mile walk over the course of three days that raises funds for Susan G.
